Website creation

Website creation

Adding good content to your web pages

One of the thing is to keep your information targeted. Your audience got there for a type of content so it is likely that when they come back, that would be for the same type of content.

Having your website on the major search engines will drive traffic to your website. Having some pages and articles, users might go through your pages, sign your guestbook, etc..
but is it all you offer?

Adding articles and creating good content on a regular basis is what will make your internauts come back. They will come back because they know you update your website on a constent basis.
Keep in mind that the internet is a huge interactive library. So the main fonction of internauts is that they like to read. No one likes to read the same stuff over and over. that is the main reason why, if you would like to keep your audience glued to their screen and faithfully visite your site regurlarly, you need to update your site, add new content keep in touch with users with newsletters, etc...

So avoid posting anything you come up with. There are also free articles that you can copy and paste. These articles are free to use on your website as long as you include the footer of the article which includes the author's informations. But then again don't go there to copy and paste anything you see. Stay content related to your website. If your site is about selling flowers, there is no point in crowding your site with car articles or an article about how you can become a SETI member by letting them use your computer.

The most important thing to be successful and make money online is traffic. Even if you have the best new product in the world with the best website on the internet to promote it, if no one finds you, you wont make any sales. So, the more people to your website the more potential sales. If 1 out of 100 people buy your product and 100 people came to your site in a week, making a profit of 20$ per sales, then, you made 20$ in a week. but, if you had 50,000 people coming to your website that same week, you would've made 10,000$. Traffic is crucial and the best way to generate traffic to your website is good content and lots of it.

Think of it this way, you found a nice website but found out that it has 3 pages with 2 paragraphs on each... How long will you stay on this website? will you be bookmarking the website to return back later to finish reading what you haven't read the first time you got there? as a webmaster would that website appeal to you as to include a link on your website? Probably not, a website with no content takes a few minutes to read and the internaut will simply move on after these few minutes in a search engine and find a website that has more content. Webmaster tend to add good related websites to theirs simply because they want to please their readers. People all over the internet in forums, chat, articles, newsgroups, etc... trade links about good websites they found. How many times did you bookmark a website because you didn't have time to read all you wanted to read on a particular website? 1 bookmark equal 1 returning happy customer and, people coming back or trying to find you because they heard about you is the best way to generate traffic and sales. So do yourself a favor, if you had in mind of spamming, cheating and making whatever to get someone to your website by tricking them, all that will happen is that you'll loose huge amount of traffic, people wont come back and some that will get there will simply hit the back button when they realize they've been had.

One of the thing I like to do to create content is:

* get a pen and a piece of paper
* write down keywords about the website i'm writing
* writing tiny keyword phrases with the keywords
* I then turn these phrases into questions
* finally I open a new .txt and answer my questions

Asking a friend to read what you wrote and point out what is not clear or that he had a hard time to understand is a good way to improve your content. Getting an E-mail from one of your readers asking you a question about something is a good way to find out that some information is missing on your website. So, don't just reply to that user, find the proper page on your website and fit that information in.
